Allen's assumption is simple: our productivity is directly proportional to our capacity to relax. He states that only when our minds are clear, and our opinions are clear can we accomplish anything without stress and enhance our creative capacity. In Getting Things Done, Allen shows how to:

  •  Relate the "do it, delegate it, defer it, drop it" principle to get your in-box to empty
  •  Reassess objectives and stay focused in changing circumstances
  • Plan programs as well as get them unstuck
  • Overcome sentiments of confusion, anxiety, and being overwhelmed
  • Feel fine about the task you're not performing

Applying Allen’s system will increase your creativity and productivity. His system is as acceptable to one’s home environment and programs as its work. He also contends it can help procrastinators. Getting Things Done is part of tools and procedures, part psychology. Allen says that grasping your time enables you to live in the present minute. This may be the true gift of this book.
