Are you suffering from heart disease?

Have you been asked to shed a few kilograms to reduce the risk of heart disease?

For you, though running and exercising is the best way, having a balanced diet is also an important factor in keeping you fit. However, let us be clear that staying healthy is not staying thin and losing all the fat. Being healthy refers to how immune and robust you are from within.

Having a controlled diet is sometimes accompanied by a lack of nutrition. This happens because we are very conscious of what we eat and how much we eat, and this consciousness keeps nutrition away from us.

Then, how do we balance our diet plan to avoid fats and carbs to have a healthy diet?

Well, one of the best options is moving on to a plant-centric diet.

What is a plant-centric diet?

A plant-centered diet focuses on carving dishes from vegetables and fruits, whole grains, fish, and low-fat dairy. It prohibits processed food, including red meat, sugar, or anything made of sugar, salty ready-made snacks, and soda. Say when you are on a plant based diet, you can have cauliflower as a substutute for carbs

According to Research team leader David Jacobs, Mayo Professor of Public Health Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, and the University of Minnesota, dietary guidelines in the United States and Europe have some recommendations. It recommends that citizens eat low amounts of saturated fat, especially for heart benefits. He further added that this is a good initiative, and a plat-centered diet is better for maintaining a healthy diet.

He emphasized on the plant-centered diet because he believes that only focusing on saturated fat will not give a person all the necessary nutrition that will be completely covered in a plant-based diet.

Now that we have understood what a plant-based diet is let us also know its benefits.

Benefits of a plant-based diet

Helps improving digestion

A plant-based diet mainly supports gut health and the microbiome is useful to keep our metabolism system function smooth and manage our mood swings. This is because of the large number of antioxidants and fiber that the plant-based diet provides.

As per Harvard Middle school, our stomach has more than 100 trillion bacteria (both good and bad), and while every individual has a unique microbiota, a certain collection of good bacteria is found in healthy people, which is good for our body.

Builds your immune system

Did you know that 80 percent of our immune system is in our gastrointestinal tract?

The best way to keep it healthy is by feeding it with good bacteria. A lot of this good bacteria is found in fiber. Plant-based diets are the best source of fiber. Foods like bananas and artichokes are prebiotics and prebiotic foods are a rich source of fiber.

Plant foods provide you with a variety of vitamins and minerals that helps build your immune system. Vitamin C, E, and A are found in abundance in plant-based diets. Also, it is a good source of minerals like Zinc.

Lowers your inflation rate

You take in potions and powders to get your antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits, but through a plant-based diet, you get your share of anti-oxidants directly from nature. You need not take any supplements. We need anti-oxidants to prevent or delay damage to certain cells.

Researchers have stated that we go through oxidized stress in our bodies due to being exposed to air pollution, smoke (passive and active), unhealthy food, and exercise. This oxidized pressure plays an important role in the cause of diseases like diabetes, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's' and Cancer.

It helps you maintain your weight

Fruits and vegetables have a lot of fiber in them, which helps us lose weight. The fiber makes us feel satiated faster because veggies and fruits are low in fat. Therefore, being on a plant-based diet is very helpful in weight loss.

It gives you a healthy heart

While being on a plant-based diet, you avoid unnecessary trans and saturated fats. This helps you in maintaining low cholesterol levels and keeps your heart healthy. Other than that, it also helps control other diseases that can trigger heart-related issues like blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes.

Reduces the risk of cancer

Plants produce protective phytochemicals which are anti-inflammatory. They motivate you to eat more fiber. This fiber is both soluble and insoluble, which helps prevent breast cancer compared to any other fluid diet.

Keeps your brain active

Plant-based diets have more amount of oxidants which keeps your brain active and healthy. The fibers and other nutrients also lower the risk of Alzheimer's up to 53 percent. Plant-based diets are better linked to brain functioning and brain health.

Plant-based diet dishes

Well, when we think of a plant-based diet, the first thing that comes to our mind is, How will it taste? Plant-based foods can also be made yummy. These mouthwatering dishes can tantalize your taste buds and give you all the flavor you need along with a healthy life.

  • Vegan green bean, tomato, basil pan
  • Paco made of plants
