What is Athleisure?
Athleisure is a type of hybrid clothing, and it is a fabricated style of clothing typically worn during athletic activities and in other settings, such as at the workplace, at school, or other casual or social occasions. Athleisure outfits can include yoga pants, tights, sneakers, leggings, and shorts that "look like athletic wear", characterized as "fashionable, dressed up sweats and exercise clothing".The idea is that gym clothes are supposedly making their way out of the gym and becoming a larger part of people's everyday wardrobes.
Trends in Athleisure
It has become more than a trend because it is a complete lifestyle and forming into a cult. The most favoring part of the athleisure trend is the blend of aesthetics from both industries; sports and fashion. Fashion is giving sports an uplift in credibility and sports giving fashion functionality.
Athleisure buyers desire the active lifestyle that comes with each purchase. The styles, colors, and fabrics of athleisure suggest a broader emphasis on fashion as opposed to functionality By 2020, a so-called "next-gen athleisure" category had emerged owing to increasing acceptance in the workplace and advances in fabric and production technology; for instance "yoga pants that will, whenever we return to the office, double as totally acceptable office pants."Brands working in the "next-gen" category include Epoque Evolution, Veilance, and Rhone.
