With the ever-evolving technology of the Metaverse, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has got another prototype that lets you build virtual worlds just by describing them. This is what you need to know about them -
What is Meta and the Metaverse?
Talking about the Metaverse, we all have heard about the concept either during the Facebook rebranding or the spiderman movie. Even though we may have explored some aspects of Metaverse, the concept remains fairly new to us. So let us first take a look at the formal definition of ‘Metaverse’.
According to reports, the Metaverse is defined as “a simulated digital environment that uses augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and blockchain, along with concepts from social media, to create spaces for rich user interaction mimicking the real world.”
Matthew Ball, who is a venture capitalist and essayist, wrote that the metaverse will become “the gateway to most digital experiences, a key component of all physical ones, and the next great labor platform.”
In layman's language, it is a world in itself but without the reality of the matter. It is free from the laws of physics, chemistry, or biology. It is run and carried by supercomputers and servers similar to those of the internet. There are more such breakthrough technologies that are based on ever-evolving technology.
The extent of evolution in the Metaverse depends on the creativity of an individual. Hence, the sky is the limit for the possibilities of what the Metaverse can be in the future.
In addition, the Metaverse isn’t being built by any one group or company. Different groups will build different virtual worlds, and in the future, these worlds will be interoperable – forming the metaverse.
This can also be observed in the movie ‘Ready Player One’ which was set in the future revolving around the concept of the Metaverse and the possibilities around it. Mathew Ball also believes it will be the driving force in creating a new generation of companies, similar to what happened with the popularization of the internet. If we ask how safe is the Metaverse, then the answer is that it is one of the technologies that combat fraud as it would be based on the concept of Web 3.0.
Generation of Income in the Metaverse
The Metaverse is not just a place for consumers and gamers, but also for earning money. It is obvious that if someone is buying something then someone is selling it and making a profit. This also means that the Metaverse will be generating new careers for the coming generations. Playing games and earning money sounds like a dream, but it is going to be a reality now.
The example of the Metaverse generating good sources of income can be seen in the country of Ghana. The company Axie Infinity which is a crypto-gaming pioneer company, mentioned before, has generated higher income than the minimum wages for the people of Ghana just by playing games.
Apart from playing games, the web-based on the blockchain or the Web 3.0 also hosts opportunities for writers, painters, graphic designers, music creators, and so many more diverse professionals. Did you know that there already exist platforms for writers on Web 3.0?
The Meta Prototype That Builds Virtual Worlds
“Let's go to the beach”
Today, let's get to know more about what exactly is this and what Meta has to offer.
Meta, the company that owns Facebook and other social media platforms, is now testing an artificial intelligence system that lets people build virtual worlds by describing them to a bot. CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the prototype.
The AI prototype is called the Builder Bot. It is said that the bot could eventually draw more people into Meta’s universe also known as the “metaverse” which is a form of virtual reality. This is a progressive step towards machine-generated art.
In a demonstrative video, CEO Mark Zuckerberg is seen in the process of making a bot, this prototype is called “Builder Bot,” which is Meta’s latest effort to attract more people into Meta’s universe, also known as the company’s metaverse.
Through advanced creative AI technology and virtual reality experiences, Mark Zuckerberg shows viewers how the Builder Bot can instantly take the user anywhere in the virtual space with just a simple descriptive command.
Let's meet the “Builder Bot” and see how it exactly works
As shown by Meta and demonstrated in the prototype of the model, Builder Bot appears to receive voice input from users to add 3D objects into a virtual reality that users can walk around. “You’ll be able to create nuanced worlds to explore and share experiences with others with just your voice,” Zuckerberg promised during the event keynote.
Meta also made some other AI announcements during the event, including plans for a universal language translator, a new version of a conversational AI system, and an initiative to build new translation models for languages without large written data sets.
Meta shows that this Builder Bot detects voice signals and commands, and the input system allows the user to add 3D objects they could walk around.
In the major part of the event, Zuckerberg further mentions that “You’ll be able to create nuanced worlds to explore and share experiences with others with just your voice.” While this is a major exploration for Meta, Zuckerberg acknowledged that it requires a sophisticated understanding of VR objects and AI integration.
“In the metaverse, we're going to need AI that is built around helping people navigate virtual worlds along with our physical world with augmented reality,” Zuckerberg said. “When we have glasses on our faces, that will be the first time that an AI system will be able to see the world from our perspective: See what we see, hear what we hear, and more,” stated Mark Zuckerberg.
The facts about the implementation of the bot in the Metaverse or the role of the Metaverse in the VR technology are yet to be verified. Though the genesis of these ideas open a whole arena for people to come forward and become early creators of the virtual worlds.
