An Inspiring Journey To Look Up To
“If you give all of your energy, commitment, and passion to your life, you will almost certainly have a fulfilling professional and personal life journey.” Thasunda Duckett.
Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of Chase Consumer Banking, a division of JP Morgan, did the same thing. She's been an Independent Director of NIKE since 2019.
Duckett was born in 1973 in Rochester, New York. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Marketing and Baylor University with an MBA.
But, her journey to success was not as easy as it seems. Her growing-up years were not a bed of roses. Her family had to struggle to even buy groceries to feed themselves.
Now she's become one of JP Morgan Chase's most visible executives, using the lessons of her past to help guide the bank's massive branch expansion.
Before joining JP Morgan Chase & Co. and holding executive roles of increasing responsibilities in Chase Home Lending, Duckett was a Director of Emerging Markets at Fannie Mae. Now, a mother of three, she is the executive sponsor of JPMorgan Chase’s Advancing Black Pathways program which is directed towards helping people of color achieve economic success through wealth, education, and careers.
Under her leadership, Chase has undergone a digital and physical transformation. Her team manages Chase's first major branch expansion in 10 years.
American Banker magazine named her one of the Most Powerful Women in Banking. Widely recognized as a leader in the financial industry, she was named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful “Women to Watch.”
She is a founding member of the firm's Women on the Move initiative to advance women in their careers and business.
Currently, Duckett oversees a banking network with more than $600 billion in deposits, more than 5000 branches, 16000+ ATMs, and 50,000 employees serving 25 million households nationwide.
The Rosie and Otis Brown Foundation, founded by Duckett in honor of her parents, recognize people who use ordinary means to uplift their community in extraordinary ways.
